Abstract

Regional policy is the main instrument for strengthening social, economic, and territorial cohesion. Germany, as the EU’s leading economy had specific difficulties to overcome his forty years division. The scheme of the German regional aid has changed and since January 1st, 2020, has become uniform 30 years after the reunification of the divided country. There is a common interest to find new ways for modernizing, building green energy sources and strengthening digitalization in the whole country to become more successful in the global economic competition. The recovery after the pandemic must guarantee a sustainable future for coming generations on a solidarity basis in all regions of Germany.
